Sink Liverpool
West Genesee captured their third straight game 1-0(3-0)
to remain undefeated with a 10-1 win over Class A foe
Liverpool Warriors on a bitterly cold evening at Liverpool
High school.
The Catsd up their 8-0 run with a lone first quarter
goal at 3:20 when junior attackman Andrew Hanover scooped
up a loose ball behind the cage and stuck it past Liverpool
goalie Adam Fullerton. It wasn’t until the late
second quarter that Genny scored their second goal of
the game, 2-0 when senior attackman Jake Bebee slipped
his defender and took a pass from senior co-captain
Drew Dabrowski and deposited his shot past a lunging
Fullerton.
Hanover tallied his second of the contest when he teamed
up with Dabrowski to double team a Liverpool defender
trying to clear the ball. Dabrowski stole the ball and
hit Hanover who tucked the ball in the lower left hand
corner of the cage.
Livepool threatened to cut into the Cats lead at the
end of the half but were stopped by senior goalie Casey
Rotella who slid across the crease to stuff a wide
Liverpool attacker.
Dabrowskid the scoring in the third quarter with
a right handed rocket from 20 yards out with an assist
from junior middie Jake Moulton to make the score 4-0.
Senior defenseman Cheney Raymond continued his stellar
early season play when he stole the ball at midfield,
steam rolled down the right side and fired a bounce
shot into the cage at 6:56 for a 5-0 lead.
The most entertaining goal of the evening came after
Hanover dumped a Liverpool defender over a three-foot
snow bank lining the field,. Hanover then took a pass
from senior defenseman Chris Bulawa, raced down the
right sideline and tucked a laser over Fullerton’s
right shoulder into the corner of the cage to make it
6-0.
Junior middie Alex Bily added the final marker of third
quarter taking a pass from Dabrowski in the slot increasing
the margin to 7-0.
Genny finished off the Warriors with three fourth quarter
goals off the sticks of Hanover, his fourth, senior
co-captain and face-off middie Matt Cassalia from Dabrowski
and Junior middie Jake Moulton. Rottella played a stellar
game between the pipes registering 12 saves many of
the one on one variety.
