The Wildcats slipped and slid their way to a record of 4-0(8-0) overall with hard fought 11-6 win over the host Baldwinsville Bees on a rain soaked and mud splashed afternoon on the secondary field at Baldwinsville high school. Under a steady downpour both Genny and B’ville literally attempted to find their legs as both teams tried to navigate the quagmire like conditions.

Junior attackman Andrew Hanover netted the lone Genny goal of the first quarter as the teams mucked their way to a 1-1 draw. The Catsd the second quarter with an early barrage hitting the goal posts twice in four shots before senior attackman, co-captain Drew Dabrowski netted one in front at 8:24 with an assist from Hanover for a 2-1 lead. The Bees knotted the game at 2-2 less than two-minutes later when Mike Felice beat senior gaolie Casey Rotella with a shot that grazed his cleats before settling in the mud behind him. Dabrowski answered B’ville’s goal with his second of the game 40 seconds later with an unassisted tally to put the Cats back in front 3-2.
Hanover looked to extend the Cats lead when he dodged his defender put the ball past Fiorento only to have the ball slap of the post. Felice then took advantage for the home team ramming a one handed diving shot past Rotella to tie the game at 3-3 with 4:03 left in the half.

In what appeared to be a near instant replay from just moments before Hanover once again found himself alone in front only to see his shot carom wide off the post.
Once again it was Dabrowski to the Cats rescue as he turned an assist from junior middie Jake Moulton into his third goal of the game and a 4-3 lead. Each team the exchanged fast breaks with the Bees stopping the Cats who then turned it around and capitalized on their own with a goal by Steve Case to tie the game at 4-4.
Senior attackman Jed Bebee began the third quarter with an unassisted goal while toeing the crease giving Genny back the lead 5-4. B’ville retaliated with sustained pressure as they peppered Rotella with four quality shots three which turned into saves and one near missed than clanked off the post.

Senior attackman Kiel Moore gave the Cats their biggest lead of the day when he slid through the crease took a pass from senior middie Pat McCormack to give Genny a 6-4 lead. B’ville then caught the Cats napping with 1:45 in the third as Fierento flung the ball down the field to Paul Richards who found Steve Case who was beyondas the nearest Genny defender was 15 yards away. Case threw several fakes at Rotella who valiantly tried to ward off the lone B’ville attacker but Case won out sticking the ball home to cut the lead to 6-5. Senior midfielder Billy Gleason got one back for the Cats with 33 seconds to play and the Genny escaped the third with a 7-5 lead. With 5:55 left in the final quarter Hanover finally beat his case of post-itiss to put Genny ahead 8-5 with an assist to senior defender Cheney "Hoover" Raymond who picked the ball in the Genny defensive end and raced the length of the field before dishing it off.

The Cats then executed as only they seem able although not on a consistent basis when Gleason won the draw fired to Dabrowski who found Hanover who in turn hit Bebee who did the honors with his second of the game and a 9-5 lead. Senior middie, co-captain and face-off man Matt Cassalia added a tally with 4:47 to go to increase the Cats lead to 10-5. Raymond collected his second helper of the final quarter scooping another ground ball and feeding Hanover for his second of the game giving Genny an 11-5 lead. B’ville added a goal with 1:34 left in the contest but it was not enough to keep the Cats from mudding through their eight win of the year.
