Cats comeback beats the Bucs 11-6

Bebee leads West Genny with four goals

The West Genesee Wildcats 5-0 (11-1) continued their winning ways at home on Tuesday night with their third come from behind victory in a row to beat the Oswego Buccaneers . The Bucs struck first taking a 2-0 lead in the first quarter before junior attackman Jed Bebee cut the lead to 2-1 with an assist from senior middie Matt O’Connell with 2:44 left.

Genny did not fare much better in the early part of the second half as Oswego used two goals in the first three minutes to extend their lead to 4-1. O’Connell got the Cats on the comeback trail with an unassisted tally to cut the lead to 4-2 at the 9:15 mark. Moments later senior captain, middie Mark Conklin netted a goal with an assist from junior attackman Drew Dabowski and the Cats had shrunk the lead to just a goal at 4-3.

Senior middie Matt Woolshlager took Genny’s next turn using an unassisted goal at 6:06 to bring the home team even for the first time in the game 4-4. Sophomore attackman Andrew Hanover gave the Cats a 5-4 lead with another unassisted goal at 3:51 and the Cats had their first lead of the evening. Dabrowski finished off the half with only 2:32 to go with a goal of his own and the Wildcats had withstood a first half onslaught by Oswego to take a 6-4 lead into the half.

The third quarter began much like the first with Oswego netting two goals and knotting the game at 6-6.
Junior Wildcat middie Matt Cassalia returned the momentum to the Cats with his half field rush after winning the face-off and putting into the cage to give Genny a 7-6 lead.

The fourth and final quarter was all Cats as Bebee took control of the game scoring three of his four goals, none prettier than when he took a fantastic 30 yard pinpoint pass from junior middie Andrew Sugar and stuck in the goal while all alone outside the crease to extend the lead to 8-6. Sandwiched in between Bebee’s goals was O’Connells second of the game and Dabrowski who added three more assists for a total of four on the night and an 11-6 win.
