Lady Wildcats State Champs for Third Consecutive Year!!
The West Genesee Lady Wildcat's have enjoyed great success recently by winning New York State Class A Championships in 2001, 2002 and now 2003! The Lady Wildcats are disciplined, determined and dedicated to continuing their winning ways under 4th year head coach Bob Elmer in 2004.

The Lady Wildcat Seniors celebrated an undefeated season.
Lady Wildcat co-captains Colleen O'Hara and Shannon Burke flank Head Coach Bob Elmer and the State Championship Trophy they have won three years in a row.
     

Lady Wildcats THREE-PEAT. 2003 State Champions!
The Lady Wildcats won their 3rd consecutive N.Y.S. Girls Class A Championship on Saturday 6/7 with a dramatic come-from-behind 12-11 overtime victory over the Bethlehem Lady Eagles. The Lady 'Cats trailed through much of the game but rallied and tied the game on a goal by senior Shannon Burke with under 20 seconds remaining. Senior Lyndsey Moore notched the game-winner in the first overtime period and the Lady 'Cats held on for the remaining period to seal the victory.

With the victory the #1 ranked Wildcats(23-0) won their 67th consecutive game spanning three seasons. It also was the second straight year that both the girls AND boys lacrosse teams have won championships in the same year. Congratulations girls on a GREAT SEASON!!

The Lady 'Cats set the Section 3 consecutive win record on 4/10/03 with a 9-4 victory over Cicero-North Syracuse. The win streak extends back to the 2001 season but still remains 6 shy of the all-time state record of 73 straight victories set by Carle Place High from 1982-85.

Lady Wildcats Take Third Consecutive Section 3 Title
The Lady Wildcats won their 3rd consecutive Section 3 title with a hard-fought 14-13 victory over the Fayetteville-Manlius Lady Hornets on 5/29. Junior Kelsey Campbell scored the game-winner for the Lady 'Cats who were led by Lyndsey Moore (5G-2A) and Shannon Burke (3G-3A).

John Pepper Memorial Tournament
Preparations are underway for the second annual John Pepper Lacrosse Tournament has been set for July 19th and 20th at the Richard Frisina Fields in Camillus. The tournament features boys divisions on 7/20 including Under 14, Under 12 and Under 10. This year's tournament will also feature a girls tournament on 7/19 for the first time and includes High School, Under 15 and Under 13 divisions. Cost per team will be $300. Burke accumulates awards
Senior Shannon Burke was awarded with two honors this past week. On Wednesday 4/23 Shannon was recognized as News Channel 9's Athlete of the Week. Sportscaster Steve Infanti presented the Jack Morse Athlete of the Week Trophy to Shannon Wednesday on News Channel 9 at 5:30. On Thursday 4/24 Burke received the player of the game trophy from Time Warner channel 13 who was there taping the 'Cats 10-7 victory over the Liverpool Lady Warriors. Congratulations Shannon!!

Lady 'Cats compete in Daniel Hand Lacrosse Jamboree
The West Genny girls competed against four of the top teams in the nation during the annual tournament on March 29th in Madison, CT. The Lady 'Cats scrimmaged the Northport Tigers before taking on Pennsylvania champs, the Conestoga Pioneers. Shawnee Renegades of Medford, New Jersey and closed out the day with a 2002 state title game rematch against Long Island's Farmingdale Dalers.

Seniors Announce College destinations
As the 2003 season winds down, the following Wildcat seniors are preparing for their next destinations. Congratulations girls!!

Julie Fabrizio will don the orange and black of the Princeton Tigers, Shannon Burke will play at Connecticut, Eileen Gagnon is heading off to play at St. Bonaventure, Kathryn Kenneally and Lindsey Hamann will play at Niagara, Jacquie Griffin will attend SUNY Geneseo, Keelin Hollenbeck has signed to play for Mercyhurst Katie Donovan is going to be a Maryland Terrapin and the trio of Kendall Tupper, Colleen O'Hara and Lyndsey Moore are Ivy League bound to play at Cornell.
