Please explain to me how it became alright to lose to a class C team? West Genesee used to be a proud and stong program. 22 Sec.III crowns, 10 State championships out of 14 appearences. What has happened to the West Genesee Lacrosse mentality? I read in the "Past" section about Branigan eating a crawfish in the locekr room before a game. Gravante,Bergan,Howes,Deeg,Beville,Wenzel,Zulberti etc. all of these guys would run through walls to win. Just check out the High School and College All-Americans who came before you. People will dispute this and say, " Hey it's ok you can't win them all", well you better try to and you sure as heck shouldn't lose to a lesser opponent, ever! This is varsity lacrosse one step away from the college stage. It's time to quit screwing around and instill a little,Pride & Passion back into the program. When you put on the Wildcat colors then you owe it to all who came before you. If you can't handle it there is always track or baseball. Get Serious!!!

The problem with kids these days is that they are soft plain and simple. Nobody wants to put in the time any more to be good. How many kids do you see on the wall before and after practice, how many of these guys even know where MONTY-V is? And I'll bet the only view they've ever had of the "RES" has been from Mommy & daddy's air conditioned Explorer. If you are a West Genesee "VARSITY" lax player you owe to the program to leave it all on the field, not get left on the field. It's only one loss, well that's one to many. A lazy first half and stupid mistakes repeated again and again. Meville, OP,Auburn & now Penn Yann...??? Gut check time. Time for 30 guys to become 1. Were waiting.

People say the reason for the decline of dominant Genny teams is due to the increase overall participation, ie: BULL and other local feeder programs and that Genny has failed to change with the times. I think it's the players that have changed. Genny players used to jump off a cliff for Messere, now there to busy debating their rights as players. As for the system, if your good enough at what you do it doesn't matter if they know what's coming. I'd hate to think of the Genny glory days as things of the past.

It dissappoints me that as former players and athletes of WG you would degrade these current players in such a awful way. Where do you think that you have the right to say 'When did it become alright to lose to a class C school?' That is one of the most ignorant comments I have ever heard. I understand the importance of the tradition at WG, but what is wrong is that "kids" (they are only kids) are not learning to win for THEIR team and for THEIR OWN PRIDE. I know for a fact that many of the current players go and play wall ball on Sundays, carry a stick, play catch with their father in the dark until all times of the night! If this is such a tradition, shouldn't we be supportive!!! I am not saying to baby them, but make them better and not degrade them in such an awful manner. We need to teach these "kids" that they need to fail, lose a game or get kicked in the ass to get better. If you all think that the program only USED to be a strong program, you are only making it worse by your ignorant, unintelligent comments. It makes me sick to even read something like this. Don't live in the Past....Do something productive to make the Future Better!

The west genesee lacrosse program is the most dedicated lacrosee programsin the world. I totally disagree with the statement that we have weakened through the years. I may only be a middle school lacrosse player but I have had a sibling who went through all of this and ever since i have grown closer to the program. I guarentee that we have a staff here that is one of the top places in the world. They show discipline and care for their players. As for Messere, in my opinion he is the greatest coach to ever live. He still has a shove park program that while being difficult and fun at the same time it stays successful. He might just stop you when your holding your stick and show you something new. So I hope that I never hear one of these comments again and we will continue our pride and stride for perfection.
